Final Blog Reflection
My favorite thing we did in space science this semester was the blogging, i enjoyed reviewing the projects we did in this class and i also like blogging. My least favorite part was the Prezi that we did. It was really hard to figure out and i wasn't comfortable using the new technology. To make this class better I would reccomend that the groups for the projects to be smaller, like two or three people max. This is because, making big group projects was difficult. The hardest thing for me to grasp about space science was the fact that everything is just so large! I can't seem to wrap my head about the fact of how big the universe is and how small we are.

EM Spectrum Brochure Reflection
The Electromagnetic (EM) Spectrum is made of several types of radiation frequencies. Scientists use these frequencies to study things like star formation and chemical make-up , the galaxy, and supernovas. They can detect different types of gases and heats by observing these things through the different wavelengths of the EM spectrum. From this project i learned about wavelengths, there uses, where they can be found and where certain ones lie on the EM Spectrum. I learned about photons, the smallest particles used for measuring wavelengths and i also learned about how the EM Spectrum is important and useful in science. Two questions that i still have about the EM Spectrum would be:
-What is an example of infrared radiation?
and
-On one of the websites for the web quest, it was stated that astronomers can use the EM Spectrum to measure ocean tempuratures. How do the use the wavelengths to find temperature?
I really enjoyed the project overall. My favorite part was creating the brochure. I did not, however, enjoy the initial webquest. I found some answers hard to find or comprehend. For example, the question about photons, I eventually found the answer but I was unsure about my paraphrasing and what a photon was until i went over it a few times. To change this project, i probably would have double checked my EM Spectrum diagram of all the radiations i think i had them mixed up, and it was a little messy and unclear.

Star Project Reflection
The star type that my group and I researched was a Planetary Nebula. A planetary nebula is a cloud of interstellar gas and dust with a star in the center. We learned where on the H-R diagram and where in the Star-Gas-Star cycle this star type falls. My favorite part of this project was using Glogster. I really like the online poster set up of the presentation. It's like a real poster but with more color and less mess. I really didn't enjoy the inference questions that we had to answer. They was difficult to answer and understand what they was really asking. The thing I would definitely change about this project would be our presentation. While we were presenting on the SmartBoard, we ran into some technical difficulties. The markers and scroll bars were temperamental and we took a few screen shots of the board by accident, not knowing how it happened. But, in the end, I really enjoyed working on this project.

Here we go.....
Hi! Welcome to my blog! My name is Katherine. I'm in 10th grade and creating this blog as a Space Science Honors project. I enjoy playing volleyball with my school team, writing and singing. I chose Space Science Honors because I thought it would be fun to challenge myself in a subject that I know very little about. I hope that this class leaves me with a broadr knowlege of astromy and space travel history. ENJOY!!!
